Once upon a time
There was a young girl
Her dream was to dance
All over the world
Her name was Elaine
What a sweet little thing
And when she moved
The heavens would sing
Now her Mama told her
“Don’t you ever give up,
Keep your big dream alive
And wish for good luck”
With little feet
That swept over the floor
And graceful pirouettes
Made it all the more
But one day she fell
All heard the loud crack
Along went her dreams
Couldn’t turn the time back
Doctors told her the news
She’d never dance again
Her life was now over
With no second chance
But her Mama told her
“Don’t you ever give up,
Keep your big dream alive
And wish for good luck.”
So Elaine took a breath
And made a big choice
She’d fight against the odds
For ballet was her voice
Many months were spent
On healing her bones
And most of the time
She trusted in her Mama alone
In the day she had class
And at night she danced
Testing her strength
And with joy she pranced
For finally she was ready
To get back in the game
Challenging the rest
And making famous her name
Seven year had passed
Since she laid down her shoes
Now putting them on
Her fate she already knew
On opening night
She was ready to go
Warm ups were done
It was time for the show
That red curtain rose
And the music began
The time had come
For Elaine to dance
She twirled and leapt
Like a beautiful swan
When she heard the applause
She knew she had won
Because her Mama told her
“Don’t you ever give up,
Keep your big dream alive
And wish for good luck.”
